The Next Screaming at America...

An Anthology of Reclamation

For the next volume of Screaming at America, we are looking for pieces that emphasize the theme of Reclamation.

What are you working to take back for yourself? For your family? For your community? For this world? For future generations?

What needs reclaiming that has not been spoken aloud?

What does reclamation mean to you? Is it a rebuilding? Returning to a previous state? Creating something new?

What will reclamation look like when it happens?

Written Work (Poetry & Prose)

From Revolution (vol. 3) we move to Reclamation.

We've been Screaming for three years. We have been screaming for much-needed catharsis. We have been screaming to build solidarity. To speak truth to power. To stand witness to this moment of time as an artistic watchdog of a corrupt system of governance and power.

None of that changes.

With Reclamation, we add a new layer to our Screaming. We Scream to move forward. We Scream to take back what always belonged to us.

We ask, what is that for you?

A Note

Before you submit, be aware that this Anthology may ruffle some feathers. We have not yet faced any direct threats to our existence as an organization or a publishing press. None of our Contributors thus far has faced any direct challenges or issues from publishing their work with us, as far as we know. But as we grow, we don't know what could happen.

Those of us in the United States are exercising our Constitutional rights to Freedom of Speech. Yet we cannot pretend that there are no risks to doing that in this country. That is to say, we do not know what risks we might face by publishing this Anthology. And the reality is, we do not currently have resources to protect you. Many legal and educational resources are out there to support you if you have concerns or questions.

If your work is accepted, you will always have the option to publish anonymously or under a penname. We offer opportunities for Contributors to perform throughout the year; performing is never a requirement or an expectation.

General Guidelines

Absolutely no submission that uses generative AI in any capacity will be considered.

No simultaneous submissions. (previously published work for which you retain rights is welcome; simultaneous submissions just get messier than we can handle)
